Manchester United and Liverpool were drawn together in the pick of FA Cup fourth round ties, meaning the two Premier League title rivals will face each other twice in the space of a week in January.

The two teams had already been scheduled to face off in the league at Anfield on Sunday 17 January but United will now host a return fixture in the cup over the weekend of 23 and 24 January, with exact times and moves for TV to be announced.

The victors will play either West Ham or Doncaster after the FA conducted the draws for the fourth and fifth rounds at the same time in order to help with fixture scheduling in this busiest of years.

Elsewhere non-league Chorley, who beat an under-strength Derby County to reach the fourth round, will host Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers, with the possibility of a home tie against Arsenal waiting in the fifth round.

The Gunners though are yet to learn the identity of their fourth-round opponents after Southampton vs Shrewsbury was postponed due to a Covid outbreak.

Chorley have already enjoyed a club-saving run in the cup that has earned them more than £200,000, and while they did not get the chance to fill their ground for the visit of Derby, they did sell out of their special edition FA Cup kit and if they beat Wolves, will add another £90,000 in prize money to the pot.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City meanwhile, for whom the prize money is almost secondary, will be in unfamiliar surroundings when they visit Whaddon Road, the first time in history the two sides have met. The winners will play either Swansea City or Nottingham Forest.
