Teaching Puberty: You Can Do It! Growth & Development Curriculum Support for Grades 5 & 6. Lesson plans for Grades 5 and 6 designed to be used as a support and guide for educators teaching the Ontario Ministry of Education Health and Physical Education Curriculum, Human Development and Sexual Health. Health and Social Care professionals use growth and developmental milestones in order to measure whether an individual is in line with the expectation of others at the same age. If an infant or child is not meeting a specific milestone, such as an infant still not being able to sit up by 12 months, this may indicate a developmental condition that requires further investigation. Sexual Development Ages 4-5 Human development is a lifelong process of physical, behavioral, cognitive, and emotional growth and change. In the early stages of life from babyhood to childhood, childhood to adolescence, and adolescence to adulthood enormous changes take place.

We will be starting our unit on Sexual Education on 6/1/20. This will be a factual, informational unit that will cover anatomy, reproduction, sexually transmitted diseases and HIV/AIDS Curriculum. The emphasis of this unit will be on abstinence as the students’ best protection against pregnancy, disease, physical, mental and emotional problems associated with early sexual activity. I encourage you to talk to your son or daughter about this unit so that they can best apply the factual information from class to your own family values.
